The Texas Adopt-A-Highway program provides a way to keep the roadways of Texas clean and beautiful but also provides a way for an organization or private group to be recognized. In our case, we adopted a section of FM 1863 in memory of our daughter, Kimberly, who was taken from us by a drunk driver in February 2016.
I would like to invite you to join us in our event that we perform each quarter in Kimberly’s memory. The section of FM 1863 that we adopted is between FM 3009 and US 281. We are responsible for cleaning a two-mile portion of FM 1863; however, since we clean both sides of the road that is a total of 4 miles to be cleaned. Each two-mile section is divided into one-mile sections for teams to clean. It takes approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete the pickup. -Lion Ken Pundsack
